From 2005, the Taetea Foundation, cooperating with the Youth Development Foundation of Yunnan and China, has contributed 20 Million RMB to launch various initiatives for under-privileged youths under the banner of its Hope Campaign.
By the end of 2011 the Taetea Foundation had assisted in:
Building 40 Hope Primary Schools nationwide – this benefitted more than 20,000 children; providing them with spacious, bright well-equipped classrooms, with a special emphasis on computer hardware and software facilities.
Launching and regularly running a teachers training class to ensure teachers from rural communities are given the most up-to-date teaching methods and information.
Establishing the Happy Alliance System of Yunnan Hope Primary Schools to boost communication between the schools
Allocating and furnishing libraries for 18 Hope Primary Schools

Building and equipping multi-media rooms for 5 Hope Primary Schools
Founded the ‘Taetea Scholarship’ in 15 universities across China – to award and assist thousands of exceptional but financially under-privileged students to pursue third-level education
Built 12 teahouses in Yunnan universities – the teahouses offer a platform to students interested in cultivating a knowledge of tea culture, and gives them hands on experience in the tea business if they wish to pursue tea as a career.
It also offers students the opportunity to subsidize their studies through employment within the teahouse
In October 2009, the Youth Development Foundation of Yunnan and China and the Communist Youth League awarded Mr Wu Yuanzhi, Chairman of Taetea, the ‘Special Contribution Award’ in recognition of his ’20 Years’ Hope Project’ initiative.
